The Mont-Saint-Michel-Voyages team

Day 1
Reception and presentation of the region, a covered carriage ride in the Bay area of Mont-Saint-Michel.

- In the morning, arrival at Roissy CDG Airport where our hostess will be waiting, departure on the TGV train for Rennes.
- Mid morning, arrival and reception at Rennes, transfer by bus to the hotel (60 km), located near Mont-Saint-Michel.
- A welcome aperitif and lunch at the hotel restaurant.
- Presentation of the region, its sights and the program.
- At 15:30, departure for a guided covered carriage tour.
We travel through the old district of Pontorson, pausing at the church dating from the 13th century. We continue along the “windmill road”, riding through the Couesnon valley where the sheep graze on the salt flats. During the tour, the guide will tell you about the project for restoring the maritime heritage of Mont-Saint-Michel. Its goal is to preserve the ancient character of whole area. The guide also points out the sites that are to be restored.
- At 18:00, return to the hotel, settling in and dinner.
Day 2
Discovery of Mont-Saint-Michel, pilgrim-style.
- At 9:00, after breakfast, departure to Vains-Saint-Léonard (35 km).

Meeting with an ex-fisherman who will talk about the history of the Bay and about different local fishing methods.

Departure on a walking tour with our guide.
With our nature guide, we discover the Bay by foot - just like the pilgrims - walking our way up to Mont-Saint-Michel itself. The walking tour takes place in ecological surroundings, far away from the crowds, making it possible to observe nature in all its authenticity: the quicksand, the “ halophile” vegetation (which thrives in the tidal water) and the ever-present birdlife. We make our way up to the legendary Tombelaine cliff, which is also the location of an ornithological reserve.
- Picnic at Tombelaine.
- Arrival at Mont-Saint-Michel (duration: about 4 hours).
- A walking tour in the streets with our guide and a guided visit to the abbey.
- Free time to stroll along the small alleys.
- At 18:00, return to the hotel (9 km), then transfer to a restaurant.
- Local specialities for dinner at a farm, followed by a folkloric soirée.
Day 3
The Bay on the Brittany 
- At 9:00 after breakfast, departure to the Brittany coast to visit the shellfish and mussel beds.
We discover the strange and magnificent scenery of the Bay on the Brittany side. Our guide takes us to the shellfish and mussel beds during low tide. We learn about the cultivation and trade of shellfish. We also visit a few ancient fisheries and contemplate the sight of a small forest of poles covered with mussels in the middle of the Bay 5 km from the coast, surrounded by an ever-changing cloud of seabirds.
- Lunch at an inn on the bay.
- Discovery of "sand sailing".
In the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, you sail as fast as the wind along the 7 km of flat sand beaches. Professional monitors will take you in hand for two exhilarating hours of sailing in one of Europe's most famous settings.
- Return to the hotel, dinner.
Day 4
Romantic Brittany
- At 9:00, after breakfast, departure to Combourg (30 km).
- A guided visit to the castle where Chateaubriand grew up, then to Dinan (30 km).
- Lunch in a restaurant by the port.
- Embark on a boat trip on the Rance river.
The long history of Dinan intertwines with that of the river - the town is constructed around and along the banks. To understand better the town’s history, we embark on the beautiful flatboat Jaman IV at the port of Jerzual. A few kilometres up the river, we see the site of Lehon with the imposing abbey of Saint Magloire.
- On the way back, a tour in the old town with our guide.
We visit the old town of Dinan, the castle and its 2,7 km long ramparts. Our guide will tell us about the long and rich history of the town.
- Return to the hotel, dinner
Day 5
Saint-Malo, the city of pirates
- At 9:00, after breakfast, departure to Saint-Malo, driving through Cancale, Le Grouin and Rotheneuf.
- A guided audio tour outside the walls of Saint-Malo, from where there is a magnificent view of the Rance river estuary.
- free time to stroll along the alleys inside the walls of Saint-Malo.
- lunch at a creperie (wafer-thin Brittany pancakes).
- mini cruise on the Rance to have a better view of the estuary and the bay of Saint-Malo.
- return to the hotel (45 km), dinner followed by a gala evening.
Day 6
A day to relax
- At 9:00, after breakfast, departure to Mont-Saint-Michel.
- Free time to stroll along the town’s alleys.
- Lunch at a local Saint-Michel farm.
In an authentic polder farm, you become acquainted with the region's traditional food, such as the lamb "pré-salé"*, cooked in an ancient coal bread oven, or you can try the unique local seafood dishes.
(*the lambs are raised on the grass of the salty tidal basin).
- return to Rennes train station, departure on the TGV train towards Roissy CDG airport.
